How to use ExactDupe
ExactDupe is designed for backup folders, photo archives, downloads, project copies and any situation where the same file may exist in more than one place.
1. Add folders
Select one folder, then add another if you want to compare two drives or backups. Your browser exposes only the files you explicitly choose.
2. Pick a minimum size
The default ignores files below 1 MB. Raising this value makes a cleanup scan faster when your main goal is recovering storage. Set it to 0 if you want to include tiny files.
3. Hash the candidates
ExactDupe groups files by byte size first. Files with a unique size are skipped because they cannot be exact copies. Files that share a size are hashed in full with SHA-256.
4. Review groups
A duplicate group contains files with the same size and full hash. The suggested keeper is only a visual aid. Export CSV or JSON before making cleanup decisions.
